Time fly's (irrelevant to it's relationship to fun)

Wow, November. Stuff has happened since my last post. The Worlds stockmarket has crumbled, economic doom and gloom, the USA has elected a new president, (Barack Obama) and the world has breathed a sigh of relief that Bush and his cronies are nearly finished their time.

I have aged another year, my daughter is nearly two and can already count to 10. Is that normal? Will she one day grow up and be a math savant who takes Las Vegas for millions? Or is she just really good at repeating words she hears after watching the Wiggles and Barney?

Christmas shopping begins tomorrow, unbelievable. Hope I get some new technology.

Boxes, boxes, boxes

We still have boxes to unpack! lucky we have a spare room in to which we can hide our shame!

Ah, 2008 already!

Well bugger me sideways, the whole crazy Christmas/New Year thing has came and gone!

I had a great time. It was Rubies first real Christmas, well second, but last time she was 2 weeks old and really just a little skinned rabbit looking creature who slurped milk, slept, poo'd and wee'd.
This year she is a little person with such character. I can't believe I helped make such an wondrous thing. I have been enjoying very much teaching her to yell and be cheeky! She loved opening the avalanche of presents everyone bestowed on her.

I push that twinge of consumer-guilt to the back of my mind, the bit where the few get so much whilst the rest get so little and simply enjoy watching her play her xylophone or knock over the block tower I have built for her.

It was in this period she became mobile and started crawling! Until now she has been very happy to sit and be brought things or point and say 'ooooh! until daddy carried her to the object of her desires. Now she is on her way!

New Years was a nice time, simply enjoying the companionship of old friends and some cold beer. It was fecking HOT - 40 deg C, and still a melting 33 overnight.

I have been back at work for a few weeks now, I don't hate, just don't love it. Definitely working to live at the moment. Meh! I have done a lot worse.

Oh, the missus bought me and Rubes T-shirts from Think Geek. Mine says 'Version 1.0, Rubies is 'Version 2.0' Cool huh? I am already bringing her over to the Geekside! She'll be rolling up a DnD character before too long I bet! (not if the missus can help it though :))

On being moved to move...

Well the truck has come and gone, the boxes have been embarked and disembarked, couches dismantled and remantled and so forth.

We have now up and gone from temperate Brunswick West, 3055, to the more tropical climes of Kingsville, 3012.

Back to where it all began. (for me anyway). I was born not a stones throw away from my my new house, at the Western General Hospital. Ah, the petro-chem smell of the inner West! The sandy beaches of Coode Island, the sparkling water of the Maribyrnong River, the majesty of the West Gate Bridge!

No longer shall I ride the Number 55 through Royal Park and past the Zoo. I shall miss the old-world quaintness of trams but now it is the Williamstown Line for me! Trains, that is the transport for a 21st Century fellow!

Oh, and they say that there are only two certainty's in life - Death and Taxes. Another is moving is a horrible experience.

To continue the 'boxing' theme...

You don't realise how much crap you have accumulated until you have to put it into boxes....

When We Were Kings(ville)

Well the property buy market here has become way too hot. House prices are rising at an amazing rate, even with 5 straight interest rate rises. Word is that home loan rates will be at 9% during 2008!

With that we have decided to move and rent a larger house in the Melbourne inner suburb of Kingsville. (hence the witty play on words for this blog. :p)
